Julio Rodriguez

Mr. Rodriguez is currently Senior Public Service Administrator, Office of Employment and Training (OET), Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO). He has been working in the field of human services for the last twenty-five plus years at the senior management level. Prior to coming to work for DCEO, He was the Program Director for the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), Division of Human Capital Development. And between 1994 through 1996 he had worked in the Governor Edgar’s Office as the Community Development Director for the Taskforce on Human Services Reform.

Prior to coming to the state, Mr. Rodriguez worked for the Chicago Department of Public Health as the Director of Prevention Programs. In the 1990-1993, he worked for Macro International, a private consulting firm that provided technical assistance to federally funded projects throughout Latin America, the US and its territories. He is a nationally recognized speaker and trainer in the areas of organizational development, workforce development and cultural competency and inclusion.

He is a native of Chicago and has a degree in Business from DePaul University. In 2001, he was inducted into the International Who’s Who of Public Service. He was the recipient of the “Community Leadership Award for Philanthropy” in 2002 from the Chicago Latinos in Philanthropy. Mr. Rodriguez has served on a number of both local and national boards such as AIDS Foundation of Chicago, the Center on Halsted, La Casa Norte, the Marin Institute for Alcohol and Drug Policy, and the National Multicultural Institute. And in 2012, Mr. Rodriguez was inducted into the “Latino Leaders” of Who’s who International.
